Garth, I may need your assistance on this one. I believe the bird with its eye on the Dragonfly is a Least Bittern. Does the dragonfly believe that it is safely away so as not to become breakfast?

I think you’re right, Carol, on the Least Bittern. My initial glance said Green Heron, but upon a little closer look, I don’t think so. The first photo looks like a white stripe above the eye, but the second one looks like it’s just the eye itself.

I’m at the northern most range for the Least Bittern, so it’s not a bird I see often.
