I believe that was a quote from Margot! Margot wanted something more exotic. This is part of Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. This section has three lakes that are separated by a narrow road. I walked the path around one of the lakes. We had better find out who is the Patron Saint of crazy photographers—I might be needing assistance.
Dang I miss Florida! I haven’t seen a gator in so long…
LOL! Now there is a comment that is not heard very often!
Carole, I think that gator has his eye on you….
Are the eyes in the water why you did not bring any dogs with you?
Exactly. No dogs are permitted and even if they were, I would not risk bringing Kayla along. I was on a very narrow path with water on both sides—and huge gator tracks that go from one lake to the other. Gators hate dogs. Er, actually they love them—they think dogs taste like chicken.
The gators that I saw were small, about 4-5′. The tracks that I saw were from large gators. While bending over to photograph the grasshopper, I heard a very nasty and large growl. I did not even bother to investigate—just moved out of there. I’ve heard gators growl before. Actually, it is similar to a lion’s roar.
@Carole, Evidently there is no limit to the sacrifices a true artist will make to capture a unique image. Please reread my actual words, Carole. I never said no more cardinals or woodpeckers. In fact, for your safety, I may request more Florida panther and orange blossom and butterfly pix. If you are going to put yourself in such dangerous, extreme situations, then you might as well freelance for the National Geographic and make some money for your splendid photos. They are every bit as good as what I see published. Be careful, Carole – it’s a jungle out there!
@Julie, One of my dogs litter mates got eaten by an alligator. Poor little guy.
My grandma was so bad. She used to make an extra sandwich and feed them while my grandpa golfed.
Margot, I know you appreciate all my photos—even plain old cardinals & woodpeckers. Besides, I know that it was LIN who requested the gator shots! You are too sweet to put me in harm’s way. Lin, on the other hand, is a different story! 😉
