Chevy and Vida recently visited the entire second grade class at a local elementary school. They helped teach the children how to successfully greet a stranger’s dog, pet them and feed them a treat. The children also practiced how to be a tree and a stone and to avoid stranger danger. Chevy and Vida quickly broke their previous record for making the most new friends in one day.
Some of the children were deathly afraid of dogs but the dogs gently helped them face their greatest fears. Bravo to my Alta-Tollhaus duo! I spoke with a teacher the next day and she informed me that the children couldn’t stop talking about Chevy and Vida. She also said that later that day the sheriff paid the children a visit with his police dog and he was very impressed that all the children knew exactly how to approach a stranger’s dog properly.
Margot, kudos to you, Chevy & Vida for performing such a great community service! Chevy is a doll, but the star of the class is Mr. Vida. Who could resist that handsome smile?
Thanks, for the nice compliment, Carole. I took lots of quick grab shots – time was limited and conditions not ideal for perfect portraits but the funny thing is that in every single photo I took Vida was watching the camera and smiling. He is a very big ham!
Margot you are already the busiest woman on the planet yet you find time to to do public service. You are amazing. I know you worked very hard on developing this program and putting it together. I enjoyed reading about it and seeing the picture, looks like both the dogs and the kids enjoyed the mutual exchange. Good job Margot!
Oh, if only this could be an experience more children could have. This is such a positive thing for the 2 legged and the 4 legged kids.
Keep up the great work.
