Excellent job Margot! I am there with you in spirit! Your deer will love the new raised feeding bowls. Oh wait—that is Julie’s deer who would be so rude. I am certain that YOUR deer are better trained. 😉
@Carole, raised feeding bowls – ha, ha!! A few days ago, I caught three of the four-hooved hooligans coming out of my open barn. Now that’s bold!
Margot – where do you find the time? I haven’t even got my flowers planted yet – nor even bought hanging baskets!! You’ve reminded me to get busy as I don’t want to let down my hummingbirds. Love the new truck – so now you have two
Chevys?
Maybe three if you count the dog!
@Kimberly,Hi, Kimberly, I don’t know where I find the time, but I do know that every time I invest time and money into a new project, the following year that particular task is always much easier. I expect my gardening tasks to be simple next year because the beds will already be prepared for planting.
I am blest to have the world’s best car dealer right in my neighborhood who is also a great friend so buying 2 Chevy trucks was a no-brainer for me. Deb Crispin has always cheerfully serviced my Fords and Dodge for many years and I promised her that someday I would own a Chevy, hence my first dog from Julie- “Chevy”. I have always owned a Ford but last week, the oil pan, the transmission and the radiator all went at the same time on my Ford so it was time to put the good old truck to sleep. I think it just wore out.
My new 4WD truck is a 2004 but is in such mint condition that everyone believes it is brand new. The carfax report showed the former owner to be religious about oil changes and routine maintenance. Obviously, the previous owner did not have a dog, kids or live in the country on a gravel road, either. These things will all be changing now that I am the owner, but not quite yet – I am still enjoying the “newness” of my pristine truck.
I love hummingbirds, too. No matter how busy I am, if I see one, I stop what I am doing and just gaze at it in awe until it leaves. Do you plant special flowers for them?
@Margot, Hopefully you will get many years of enjoyment and reliable service from your “new” Chevy. It sure does look like new! We are big Chevy people and find them to be excellent running vehicles, plus they are American products – always a plus supporting our economy.
We always put up feeders for the hummers, but make our own nectar (heated water and sugar) rather than buying the store kind. As far as flowers, I read somewhere that they are more attracted to the brighter colors, like red and orange, so I go for those colors. Carole’s recent hummer photos were fantastic. Happy planting!
Margot, I am so envious of your new raised garden beds-boxes. This certainly looks like the way to garden I do not know how you find the time to make these and run your farm and business. You are amazing.
@Julie, Oh, puhleez! You can run circles around me – you’re the amazing and busy one! Well, it’s quitting time and I need to take some Aleve. I never need this unless I do “man” work all day.
