For those of you on the Eastern side of the state there is an Air-Dog competiton at “Bark-a-Bout” in Shelby Township.

This is where dogs jump off a platform into water and the dog that jumps the farthest wins. This sounds silly but I hear it is great fun. Any dog can participate, mixed, purebred, big, small, etc.
I’m planning on going! I want to try this with Nikon, I think he would love it. I’m hoping that at the Premier they open up the smaller pool to people who want to try (I think last year you could try it for $10).
If you go, PLEASE take photos. If you try it with Nikon, DON’T COME HOME WITHOUT PHOTOS!!! Otherwise, you will be in for a serious butt kicking… 😉
OK, I don’t know if we can try this weekend b/c I’m not sure if it’s just for them or for anyone (or if Nikon is old enough). There’s a good chance we can try at the Premier though, and we will certainly start training in August at the cottage, although I’ve read the dogs really need to get into the pool because the water is clear (as opposed to a dark/murky lake).
We taught my uncle’s dog to do it. In the vid she’s about Nikon’s age right now.

Kayla would go nuts for something like that. There are plenty of docks in FL, just none that would be “safe water” for a dog!
