Love the DOF and colors on the last one! I’m not a girly girl but I do love pink.

OK, Carole, I’ll bite. What is it you are testing? Camera settings? What lens, camera and settings are you experimenting with?Responses to gorgeous photos?
The backlit brilliant red blossoms showing the delicate stamen shadows are exquisite. The startling blue eyes and black – rimmed pink nose on your kitty are beautifully focused as is the alert expression. The last photo is a fine study of color as the main subject.
I have a Nikon D80 that has been driving me crazy since last July. Sigma 28-70mm lens and a 70-300mm lens. The telephoto lens has frustrated me to no end. For months, I have had terrible results shooting with that lens unless it is mounted on a tripod or monopod.
I learned right off the bat, that shooting anything with either lens in fully automatic mode wasn’t worth the effort. The programmed presets were a crap shoot.
My goal has been to figure out how to use the telephoto lens and get decent hand-held shots without camera shake. Neither lens has vibration reduction.
Except for the shuttle launch, what I have been posting to the blog has been all hand-held telephoto shots, either using completely manual mode, or shutter or aperture priority.
I am always open for suggestions and/or critiques.

I’m a fan of the kitty photos. That’s a lovely cat, with those pretty blue eyes.
I’m obviously not photography-savvy, but the composition of the flower photos looks very nice!
Thank you Julie. That is one of my favorites also. I’ve also learned that I can see better without my glasses—sort of frightening. The last picture was with no glasses.

Good job Margot! I’m testing all of the above!

The last picture is my favorite. I like color and the balance between bokeh and detail.
