I had a killer headache today that not even Juile’s horse pills would cure. Kayla & I spent most of the day in bed. This afternoon, I finally managed to walk out to our mailbox and noticed that we had some visitors. Headache or not—I couldn’t resist. Julie, they aren’t the pink birds, but does a red hat count?
This butt shot is my favorite!
Ha, Julie! Even in bird pix, the damn ring ropes get in the way!
COOOOOLLLLL birds! What kind are they? Thank you for pulling yourself out of bed to photograph your visitors!
Oooh – those are pretty! I love their vivid red caps.
Hope that headache feels better….
Carole, how cool – they ARE pretty! I want to know, too, what kind are they? They look fairly tall – do the dogs bark at them?
Headaches – do you get migraines? I do. They are simply hateful. Imitrex works for me. Without it, I die, very slowly and painfully :~(
Hope it is better ~ j.
We haven’t had rain in a really long time. Yesterday there was a front moving in with rain headed our way. I get sinus headaches from the pressure change, and sometimes they do turn into migraines. Last night, after it rained, I felt almost human again. Today is sort of iffy.
Last year, Julie sent a bottle of horse pills (aka Mucinex)and that will usually help me. I’ve already had a horse pill for breakfast, as I’m not certain how thrilled Kayla would be about spending another day in bed!
These are Sandhill Cranes, and yes, they are pretty tall—around 41″. They make perfect photog subjects since they aren’t really afraid of people. At 41″, and with that long, pointy, razor-sharp beak, why would they be afraid?! They live below our property line and fly over us twice a day, but only stop here to visit once in awhile. The dogs do not bark at them.
Julie, I missed the perfect opportunity yesterday to play with my camera! This would have been the perfect time to switch to manual mode to see if my pix would improve. Since my head hurt so much, I just kept everything on automatic, using just the “idiot” switches.
I am beginning to believe that my lens sucks. Spent quite a bit of time in P’Shop to get these pix to look like this. The focus was too soft on all of them! I’m positive that I had all focused perfectly and was using a monopod while sitting on the ground.
I was right on top of these birds and could see the detail of their eyes very clearly. They were not moving and neither was I so I should not have had focus problems. Very frustrating…
I hope my visitors return soon. They are perfect test subjects!
