Overdue Pieka Update

We thought we’d better give all of you a Pieka update before the holidays – we know that we’ve been falling behind!   Our only excuse is that Pieka and the other dogs are keeping us hopping.  Pieka is doing great.  She’s a bright, enthusiastic, confident young girl who bowls over everyone she meets.  Sometimes literally.   Here is Pieka with her best buddy, Charlie the Labradoodle:

Charlie belongs to our good friends Andy and Lindsay and is willing to run in circles for hours at a time.   Pieka can’t catch him – yet – but she enjoys trying and enjoys stealing his Air Dog toy even more!

Pieka graduated from Puppy Class (with honors, of course) and is in her Basic Obedience class.  She’s the youngest dog in the class and is by far the most beautiful and intelligent dog there.  Of course, we may be a wee bit biased about that.  But in all honesty, the trainer adores Pieka and is looking forward to coaching us through our competitions in the future.  The most exciting thing we have done lately is attending Susan Garrett’s Puppy Camp in Ontario, Canada over the Thanksgiving weekend.   It was a long drive but well worth it – many thanks to Julie, who suggested we attend and was kind enough to email some of the assistants.   We learned a lot, Pieka did beautifully, and it was a great experience.   While Susan Garrett kept us way too busy for many pictures, here are a couple just to prove we were there:

In the midst of all this training, Pieka still gets to do lots of fun stuff.  Shane took Pieka over to a nearby park, where she had a great time investigating the running water and ice:

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.  Shane and I – along with all three dogs – will be traveling to Pennsylvania for Christmas.  I’m not sure if I’ll fit into the car by the time we get the dogs, luggage and presents in there….should be interesting!   Take care, everyone.
