Recently I decided to do something just for fun, so, after a ten year hiatus, I started playing with clay again.  After enrolling in a brief but inspiring 8 week class to refresh my memory on technique, I quickly remembered why it has always been so rewarding for me.  It’s exciting to take a lump of clay and turn it into something tangible that comes from just an idea in your mind.  I also like the marriage of science and art that pottery embraces.  Developing glazes is part art, but mostly science.  I took a photo of just a few of my creations  to share.

You are right about that art/science thing. I tried clay in high school but none of my glazes ever turned out right so I gave up. Now, I enjoy looking for and buying stuff that looks like what I had in mind!

I love the bowl on the top.

You were really busy for an eight-week class!

Can you post close-up pictures of the dog sculptures?
