Nick has been helping me teach dog training classes for 4 years now…or is it longer?
Nick is an intelligent young man, all the dogs love him, and he is a natural.
The Golden in the picture above is Nick’s dog Sirius.
When Maika came back from Germany she was out of shape. The trainers I hired were suppose to show Maika in a breed show to get a show rating but they never got around to it. So we have her entered in a show.
Nick is a runner and has been running with her and he will be taking her into the ring for the off-lead gaiting and he also will be double handling her.
You can figure out I think the world of Nick to trust him with Maika!

Your mentor relationship with Nick sounds like a win – win for both of you! Speaking of winning, good luck at the Chicago show this weekend. You are taking a great group of dogs and people with you, that’s for sure!
Thank you Margot. It is Nick’s first time at a German-style show and he isn’t even testing the waters, he is jumping right in! What a great sport he is!!!

WOW – that is awesome! It is wonderful when good people can partner up. Ah, yes, a runner – that is a very good trait to have with GSD’s :~) I look forward to hearing about the Chicago show – and I totally agree with Margot – “you are taking a great group of dogs and people with you”. Good luck Maika!!
It is impossible to show and compete in the German system on your own; you have to work in teams. In the USA we tend to all have our own “kennel” overseas many families join together to make a kennel and they all work together. When I added the prefix of “Alta” to my kennel name that was to represent the other people that would be part of the team—like yourself, Carole, Nick, Richard, Brenda, Terri, Margot, and others. Everything is better when it is shared.

uh, i guess i can speak for myself.
i am camp nick. The pictures were taken at my family’s lake house in Dowling, MI.
The other dog is my mutt, Sirius. He’s supposed to be golden, but i think he’s got some setter in him. I got him out of the newspaper, he’s my first pup, wild, and untrained. I wouldn’t trade him for the world… He is the reason that i was introduced to julie 4 years ago.
Two weeks ago i didn’t even know there was a “german” style show. It’s all very new to me and should be an interesting experience this weekend to say the least. I’m excited… and nervous…

It will be fun either way! Maika is gorgeous and laid back so she’ll look great. If Schumi doesn’t bite either the handler or the judge too hard I will be happy! Although I guess a good rating would be nice also!
Nick—best wishes to you this weekend. A good dog with a good handler is a winning combination. Julie is a serious competitor who always has a winning team!
Which is why Tiffany will not go to shows with me any more.
I am trying to be less serious and have more fun.
Yeah, who am I trying to kid, I like to win! Because God/devil (take your pick) is in the details I hired a very beautiful young lady to handle our dogs. First to attract the eye of the judge and 2nd to make sure Nick keeps his eye on the handler while he is double handling.
As I have said before, and trust me on this—Julie is a serious competitor. She knows what she’s doing and is in it to win it. There’s nothing wrong with that! Julie knows how to pick a great team.
Sorry Tif—Julie, keep that competitive edge. We might not be fun to be around at the time, but it gets the job done. The time for fun is after the show!
Nick—ALWAYS keep your eye on your handler! No matter what…don’t let anyone interfere with you and your handler. (This is advice from a double handler!)If I were there, I’d help you double.
Coke is wondering if he can go there too. He needs a LOT of training! 🙂
Maika is so pretty! I can’t wait to spend this coming weekend with her! 🙂
Maika is beautiful – look at her lovely head and expression! Okay, where is Camp Nick and who is the other dog??
Judy, Maika went with Nick for a few weeks because he’s going to show her this weekend. I think the other dog is his dog.
Lies, thanks! I hate being “out of the loop” :~)

Have to ask … who did Nick get Sirius from??

Yes, i always have a choice.
Trust me, Nick is more then capable of saying no.
