Spring

March 16th, 2010 Julie 4 comments

Spring is here!  Time to get busy and start training Heike and Ana.  I have been slacking off with them. I haven’t even taken pictures of my two little beauties, both are getting nicer everyday, and surprisingly both have grown into those giant ears they had.  I was so use to their ears that now they almost seem too small.

In the middle of the last snowstorm in Northern Germany I just had to go visit.  The purpose of the trip was to collect Kayla from her stay with Margaret where she earned her: BH, AD, KKL, SchH1, and scH2 titles.   The day after I left for my whirlwind trip to Deutschland, Maika came into season.  Five days after coming home with Kayla, Kayla comes into season and another 5 days later,  Kira decides to join the party,  also coming in season.  All making it very unlikely for me to pull off breeding to a dog in Germany.  Fortunately, I have several hunky males lined-up for the girls Stateside!  Both Maika and Kira had started to cycle in January and both stopped, having what is called a split season. From my conversations with other breeders this was a very common occurrence this year.  I am happy they are finally getting on with it!

What has Margot been up to???

Woman, 53, Uses Martial Arts To Nab Alleged Burglar

LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla. — A Lighthouse Point woman used her skills in martial arts to tackle an alleged burglar after she chased him six blocks.
Margot Foster, 53, arrived home at 2600 block of Northeast Court Friday around 10 a.m. and found a man identified as Gregory St. Germain, 24, ransacking her house, police said. She was able to tackle the suspect outside of her home, but police said he was able to get free. The marathon runner and black belt in martial arts then chased St. Germain for six or seven blocks until she caught up with him and held him until police arrived, according to patrol Sgt. Alan Nestor of the Lighthouse Point police.Police said they believe St. Germain, of Miami Gardens, is responsible for a number of burglaries in Lighthouse Point neighborhoods.  He was charged with burglary, battery, possession of stolen property and grand theft and was being held in the Broward County Jail, police said. How will he posibly be able to she his face in the miami /dade county jail after this. he should be so embarassed by this. a 24 year old gets taken down by a 53 year old woman, for shame.

While I can picture Margot iin this scenario, this is really what she has been up to:

Roman’s first race

March 14th, 2010 rita 3 comments

Roman ran in his first 5k today. We ran the race in Corktown. There were about 5000 runners and Roman did fantastic. He’s never been in a crowd that large before, but he showed no signs of being nervous or scared. In fact, he was quite the ham…received tons of pets, lots of complements and a hot dog from a by stander. He stopped on the route occasionally to sniff the corned beef stands, but otherwise kept up a great pace. All of the Detroit police officers along the way said what a beautiful dog he is. We shared a protein drink, some whole wheat pasta and tofu after the race. It was a great day!

Lift off!

Nikon practiced flying today

… and pouncing

… and body slamming

It’s the moon, it’s an asteroid, …. it’s an incoming snowball!

No one can say the Alta-Tollhaus dogs aren’t athletic!

Happy Birthday Kayla!

Two years old—my how time flys! I don’t have any pictures from today. These were taken by Margret in Germany, late December.

This bottom photo reminds me of a picture of Kira almost two years ago.  Kira had brought home a special toy and was chewing on it by the front door. Remember that, Julie?

Kayla will be home soon—after her Breed Survey in March. Then the blog will be blasted once more with Kayla shots!

Thank you, Julie. It just wouldn’t be the same without you, your family, and my Alta-Tollhaus dogs!
