Ziva at the Onondaga Kennel Association Agility Trial

On Friday, we are still trying for that final JWW leg-it is always something!  This time we missed a jump and then she back-jumped, so even though I am allowed one refusal, the back-jump is an NQ. Worst of it is, she wouldn’t have done it if it hadn’t been for me and I could have saved the run 🙁

We tried Novice fast for the 1st time.  She qualified with a first place and 71 0f 50 points needed 🙂

Ziva’s final Open Jumpers Q & 1st place today!! It was sort of wild handling by me, but Ziva got the job done and placed 1st in the class, so tomorrow we are playing with the big dogs!  She also placed 2nd in novice fast, no video since everyone was either competing in the other ring or in this class.

We did not Q in our 1st excellent run, but she did well.  I tried a lead out pivot for the 1st time and had sucess getting to the A-Frame. Several dogs b4 her run, another dog pooped in the weaves. They cleaned it up, but the next few dogs, including her stopped to sniff. I celebrated the rest of the course too soon and she brought the last bar done.  I was so pleased with how she ran the course.

Here is the obligatory bling photo for the weekend!

Dog Training Club of Rochester Annual Awards Banquet

Our training club annual awards banquet was held tonight recognizing each dog and handler team for titles or community recognition earned during the year.   We had a nice dinner and afterward the award presentations.   Our database manager also put together a lovely video showcasing  photos and video clips of our club members pursuing their individual passions with their canine companions.

For 2016 Ziva earned the following titles;

PAM – Performance Award of Merit from the GSDCA, given in recognition and appreciation of animals who display the versatility of the breed by performing in a variety of different performance events..

VCD 1- Versatile Companion Dog 1, ACT 1 – Agility Course Tested Level 1, NAP- Novice Agility Preferred ,  NJP – Novice Jumpers Preferred,  DN – Dock Novice (DN).

Not to be forgotten, Libby also earned a few titles;

RE – Rally Excellent

TDIA – Therapy Dog from Therapy Dog International

There was also an award that I did not remember from past years banquets.  The club awards a perpetual trophy to the dog and handler team that has earned the most titles with their Novice A dog and this year to our surprise, it was passed down to Ziva and I!  Only then did I find out that the last time this trophy changed hands was in 1998! That is why I didn’t remember it. Ironically the last recipient was very longtime member Charlie and his first German Shepherd  Zevah!    He asked to personally present the award to us and announced “German Shepherds Rule!”  Charlie’s last GSD passed away several years ago and at club functions he is usually close by giving my girls attention. Somehow they know he is a German Shepherd guy and they are always thrilled to see him.  It was fun visiting with friends and reflecting back on last year and looking forward to our adventures to come.

Libby and Ziva’s Christmas Day

We had family visiting over for Christmas-the girlies got some toys that were not quite, shall we say, GSD tough, but the thought was appreciated.
Ziva received a new tuggy ring!

Libby received a nice squeaky bone and Ziva a squeaky Santa

Ziva says enough of the pictures, we want to play with our toys!!

Finally toy time-Libby of course had to take Ziva’s toy!!!!
img_0721
Sadly less than 3 minutes later one of the toys succumbed to the early stages of stufficide

The guilty party!!  Ziva took her toy upstairs and it is still doing well 🙂
