Shotzi’s Little Sister

Aaron and Gabrielle were married this past summer on the shore of Lake Michigan. Aaron’s dog Shotzi (Orbit von Tronje x Funny) was at the wedding. Shotzi approved of the new woman in Aaron’s life but Shotzi was Aaron’s girl, so Aaron gave Shotzi a sister and Gabrielle a dog of her own, a little mixed breed. Here they are cuddled up together:

Mirror Image

This was totally un- planned, I asked Mos to hold up this blanket with an image of  Funny on it so I could photograph it and Funny walked up to it and stared at it.  Gavin was not impressed.

Say a Prayer for Funny

Please say a little prayer for Funny for a speedy recovery.  Yesterday she went in for surgery to be spayed (ovariohysterectomy)  and the removal of several mammary tumors.  The tumors were multiplying rapidly since we first found them before Christmas.  Mos was having a conniption that her surgery could not be done sooner.  If he was still doing surgery, Mos  would have done it within the hour of first palpating a tumor, and the tumors increased in number and size daily. In the meantime I am kicking myself for not spaying Funny when she was 9 years old when surgery would have been easier on her, as opposed to major surgery at age 11. Also had the spay surgery been done after her last puppy J-boy aka Singer she would not have developed the mammary tumors. Funny is in great shape physically and can live a long time, but unnecessarily risking her to cancer was pure stupidity on my part.  I hope they were able to get all the cancer out so this does not shorten her life.  Please do not tell me to not beat myself up over this, I do not want to hear it.  This is a hard lesson for me, and I knew better, apparently I really needed to be hit hard for this one to sink in.  The fact is,  females left in-tact and not being bred run double-digit risk of developing breast cancer.

Funny was suppose to go home today but the they are keeping her an extra day, recovery is a little slower then hoped for.
