Funny (Faye v Kirschental)

For those of you who don’t know, Becky and I are taking puppy class with Julie, which we love.  We weren’t thinking of doing it at first, long drive, but are very happy we have.  Anyway, we have had three classes so far and we have been doing our best to keep up with the homework.  I missed one class but Becky was able to go by herself.  We continue to be impressed with Schumi’s progress and how well he demonstrates in class; it seems he does better in class than at home at times.  Anyway, I couldn’t find the exercise that is being shown in the picture below in any of the handouts that Julie has given us.  Must have been a class only excercise that was done in the class I missed.  It seems Schumi and Becky have it down though.  Sorry for the slight out of focus, I was trying my hardest not to disturb the training session.

More pictures of my two naked girls! I must be having puppy withdrawal since I am taking pictures of the older girls. This is Allie:

I really shouldn’t publish this picture of Funny —she is out of coat and recovering from her last litter.  They always look horrible a couple months after having a litter, plus her three-week stint at the zoo for Snow Leopard duty did not do much to get her back into condition.   In my eyes she is always beautiful and regal.  I feel honored to have Funny in my life.

The last pictures of Annie in Michigan.  She has left to go live with Jeff and Pat in Kentucky. They are both highly skilled trainers and dog people and under their tutelage Annie is sure to reach her full potential. I am looking forward to the exciting future she has ahead of her.

Here’s some pictures of Schumi at 3 months.  He’s getting so big I can hardly believe it!  And he’s such a smart boy!  He’s doing great with all of his training for puppy class.  He’s even getting better at Rub-A-Dog!  It’s still not great by any means but it’s better than it has been.  After re-evaluating the marks on our arms (many ouchies!), Joe and I decided to do this when we are both home.  One hold him, the other give yummy treats.  He doesn’t fight us as much now and we are slowly giving him less treats each time.

He did a down for me.

We are still working on retrieving.  :-)  He LOVES this toy though so we want to buy another similar one to make training go easier!

I also love this toy because the squeaker is really quiet!

Dear Mom and Momma Julie, you know life here in Washington isn’t too bad! I am sending you pictures taken of me yesterday swimming!! How fun! Now I just run in the pond and swim any time I feel like it - cool :~) My Mom says my bite work so far is pretty good - she likes it much better when I bite my tug toys than her, though. Oh, and tell my big sister Kayla that I like the hose, too. I wonder if it is a family thing?? My Mom says the German Shepherds she had when she lived on a lake in Wisconsin loved to swim, too. Plus, she says I am a good retriever. I wonder why she needs any golden retrievers then?? Well, we are off to go on another car ride - she takes me everywhere and shows me off. I try to kiss and not bite the people I meet :~) Love, Aslan.100_13541.jpg100_13531.jpg
