Petco is having an online sale on crate mats. A few bucks off the original price AND buy one, get one free. Spend $49 and get free shipping.
There are a few varieties, but this one is my faves. I still have the mat that Baby Batman used when he was a toddler that Kayla refuses to give up. It has been washed a zillion times and has held up much better than the very expensive Kong mats that I washed a couple times and had to throw out because the bottom disintegrated. (sorry, Andrea!)

The sale is good through Aug 11.
DuKey says “Tanks Aunt Carole”!
I’ve been wanting to get Sir DuKe a larger crate for his traveling pleasure and now he has one. LOL
I normally use Midwest crates, so imagine my happiness at getting a 48 x 30 x 33 crate for 1/2 price. $79.99 orig $169.99! Whoo hooo.
Now please, if anyone out there gets them cheaper…wait abit before you tell me. lol
Oh, and he also got the bogo crate bed for his new crate. 🙂

Terri, I didn’t even look at the crates this time. Good to know they are half price. I have the older Midwest crates but for the past few years have been purchasing the h/d double-door Petco brand when it is half off. Excellent crate and actually more solid that the current Midwest brand.
My suggested crate mats aren’t as thick as a plush bed but work great for crates. Washer friendly.
Carole,
I’ll have to check out the crate you mention. I’ve used Midwest and Vari Kennels forever. I use the plastic zip cords (not sure if that’s what they are called) on all corners for extra protection, plus the crates don’t rattle then. I put the zip things on for reinforcement, that thank goodness has never (NOT…never say never) been needed. Even crazy, drivey, digging holes to China, Rudi stayed put in his crates. … hmm Although, he did rip apart the plastic tray in one of his crates.
As far as the crate pad, I’ve seen them at the PetCo near me….they work well in crates…as for his Highness’ bedding…….ahh..that would be my queen sized bed. LOL
Terri and His Royal Dogness, DuKe xoxoxoxo
Teri, this is the wire crate. However, it is not 50% off right now but it usually is at least once or twice a year.

Yes, I’ve always purchased Midwest wire crates and Vari Kennels for ages. I have two Vari-Kennel Ultras here. One has a hole in the bottom that happened during shipping a dog (and not from the dog!), the other has a hole in the top. So put the two good pieces together to make one good crate. Not made like the “old days.”
His Royal Dogness….I LOVE IT!
Digger finds all crate mats equally appetizing. They can be cloth, foam, leather, stuffed, not stuffed…he enjoys them all especially the brand new ones, those are the most yummy!
So now that he’s sleeping without a mat he sure is making a lot of noise in there. Sometimes he sounds like he fell over! Maybe he wants to be like DuKe and sleep with mommy:)
Carole,
Thank you for posting this! I have a very old mat just like these that I love and take to dog shows for Lucy. She also uses it when she travels to the dog shows on my console (which one of you can say that your dog fits in your car’s console? 😉 ). I went to the physical store of Petco today and they price match, so they gave me the 20% off and buy one, get one free. I got 4 mats for $50! One of them was the largest size (I chose my free mat as a smaller one for the crate in the car). Every time I go to the website, though, it gives me a different price, so be aware. One time it will not say buy one, get one free, another time it will not say 20%. The manager looked it up on the computer and gave me both deals. Petco has been great to work with regarding their price matching. 🙂 Now if only I can keep Ember from chewing hers…
Thanks, Carole!
Batman LOVED that crate mat! Too bad his big bat butt won’t fit on it anymore. Sigh. I miss my little puppy!
No worries, Carole, I’m guessing you must have been shopping at Petsmart? The Kong mats, bowls, collars, leads, shampoo etc aren’t actually Kong products. They are products made by other manufacturers with whom Kong has licensing contracts.
It has been a nightmare for me because consumers don’t understand why their local dealer can’t get the products they see in the large box stores, then my customers complain to me that they are losing their customers to the big guys!! Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you look at it, I have nothing to do with these companies.
Thanks, Andrea, that’s good to know. I love Kong products and purchased the mats at Petsmart thinking the mats would be of excellent quality. Won’t make that mistake again!
