Libby and Ziva received some cow trachea from their Christmas haul. Can these be chewed safely like bully sticks or are they like rawhides and I should toss them in the trash? Any advice is welcome.

I feel the need to take away the last part of the bully stick too. Seems like a waste, but I’m worried my poor widdle, cuddly, wuddle, Duke will choke on it.
Next time I’ll order the 12″ bully sticks, then it won’t seem like such a waste.
Happy New Year!
Terri, Dukes’ Ma
Terri, even for the little kids I buy the 12″ stix. I take away the last little section of it too. Except sometimes Kayla & Garbo manage to eat the entire thing before I notice. Or else I give the tiny leftover to Tina the Terror, who is too evil to choke. 😉
Carole,
Duke will chew on the 6″ for awhile. He gnaws and gnaws….come to find out, he has 1/2 of it in his mouth that he’s chewing on that is all slobbery, slimey. That is when I grab hold (best I can) to the part sticking out of his mouth and he’ll chew ’til it’s free and gulp, it’s gone. So, that’s about 3″ eaten and 3″ thrown away. Do you want me to save the tiny bits for Tina? (just kidding)
Ziva is a dainty chewer, Libby goes for the gusto. Are these digestible? A Bully lasts Ziva for 2 nights-Libbys 12″ jumbo is down to the 4″ take away nub in 20 minutes.

Kai ate a whole one last night. I should have probably had the boys take it away instead of him eating in one sitting. I wonder if he swallowed the last bit instead of chewing. Probably as I saw some evidence of it today on our walk. We gave it to him on our way to a New Years party so he’d be good for the boys. We also bought him a beef jerky bone, but he probably won’t get that till the weekend. I don’t want to overdose him.

Hey Lisa………………..
Did any of us answer your question yet? LOL
Little Duke eats them w/o any problem. My concern is that he might choke on the stubby end parts. That is when I take them away from him. When he’s bigger and can chew them up good, I won’t worry so much.
