This evening Ivan was entered in his first Rally Advanced B Trial at the Wachusett Kennel Club in Fitchburg, MA. There were 20 dogs entered in his class and I am very pleased to report that Ivan earned his first Leg with a score of 100 and a 2nd place. One other dog got score of 100 but completed the course just a little faster than Ivan.
Julie, I must tell you that wherever we go people want to meet Ivan and remark on his looks and temperament.

The judge was Micheal Calhoun and he was super nice! That was the first time I have been judged by him.
Congratulations Lynda! You are my hero! Only in Rally can you get a perfect score and still come in second. It looks like you are going to be staying on that Rally top 10 list!

Jack is Ivan’s personal photographer, crate and bag carrier etc!
Jack assists in Ivan’s training but does not want to show him…. which is a good thing as I love training and competing so it works out well (although I still get nervous and wonder why I like to compete at times!!)
Jack does help with the “double handling” at conformation shows.
Was Ivan the only GSD in this class?
Yes, Ivan was the only GSD in Rally Advanced. There was a GSD in one of the Novice classes.

Lynda, as I told you off-blog, you guys look TERRIFIC! Ivan is such a steady, calm, presence. What a good boy and a lovely run.
I have heard from MULTIPLE sources that Michael Calhoun is a terrific judge. He’s reputed to have a very calming way with nervous exhibitors (ah, yours truly) and is very amenable to giving high scores to dogs other than Border Collies or Goldens.
I am going to suggest his name to the local kennel clubs.
