The Honey Bees are Back!

After virtually vanishing from the farm and all over the country for the past two years, the honey bees have come back  in full force  for the last flower of the summer – goldenrod.

Two or three bees cover each plant and there are  acres and acres of goldenrod, so I guesstimate hundreds of thousands of wild honey bees.    If you look closely at the bee’s hind legs, you can see the orange pollen baskets  that they transport the pollen in back to the  hive.

  1. YAHOOOOO that is fabulous news!!!! I have not seen any honey bees on my property this year, but I have seen a few bats for the first time in years. A very good sign! Your photo is absolutely beautiful.

  2. Gorgeous photo, Margot!
Oh, that is the honey bee that I brought from FL on my last trip to MI. I was wondering how it was doing. :)
