High Protection
Pictures of Gustavo Sanchez and his home-bred dog Ben vom Haus Stavo in the protection phase at the Mideastern Regional Championships. Gustavo and Ben were high in protection with a score of 99. Ben searching the blind spots for the bad guy.

Found him. Doing a bark-and-hold to keep him from running.
ooophs the bad guy tried to make a break for it…
The long bite:
Nuke’s Swimming Lesson.
Nuke had BIG EXCITEMENT today: we took him to the pond!

“This is as deep as I will wade for liver biscotti, ma’am.”
There’s a small pond in one of the local parks so we headed over there this afternoon with John’s “Doggie Diaper Bag” full of treats and toys and started Nuke on an Intro to Swimming adventure. He plays in his water bowl all the time so I was curious how he’d react to a whole pond full of water.
He enjoyed splashing around at about ankle height, but it took both floating toys and me wading out there with treats to entice him to go any deeper than that. He tried to swim twice but panicked and went back to shore. We’ll keep trying it on a weekly basis until he learns or it just gets too cold. His puppy fur is coming out big time now, and this morning BOTH his ears were up for a few minutes.
He won’t be a pup for too much longer!
Pretty soon it’ll be time for some structured obedience training and socialization with other dogs.
Here’s a link to his giant photo set for those who just cannot get enough puppy in their daily diet.
Tracking Brag – Canadian Style
Current brag. Lance and I went to Canada last weekend with my friend Lisa and her English Cocker, Adam. We went to try our hand at Canadian tracking test. I am now proud to say that Lance is now a “Am/Can TD” boy. Or that’s what they tell me I can put in his title string since he now has a tracking title (TD) from both Canada and USA. Attached are pictures that were taken by the Judge, Ms. Marie-P Babin (I got her permission to share the pictures). The “trophy” picture is one of my own. Enjoy – that’s my boy!
Laura and “Lance, Am/Can TD” (course he’s still a moose to me).
