Lance New Title

I’ve attached a picture Bill took today of Lance and I (he’s not as good as you all are with photographs).   But, the picture is of us with our groups of ribbons (4 first and 4 qualifying) that we’ve earned at our last 2 rally shows.    Two from the Kalamazoo Kennel Club a while back and two this weekend at the Kalamazoo Cluster at the fairgrounds.   Three of them represents our latest title RA (Rally Advance) and the fourth is his first leg in Excellent.   All legs earned with first placements – he’s a good boy.

You also wanted to know his latest “name” string with all his titles.   So, here it is – this latest title puts us at 41 titles.   Whew!   Busy, but what fun.

U-CH, U-AgII U-RO1, Alta-Tollhaus Par Four (Lance), TD, AX, AXJ, NAP, NJP, OF, RA, CTL1, CL2, NAC, NCC, TN-N, TG-N, WV-N, CSL1-F, CSL1-H, CSL1-S, RS-N, JS-N, GS-N, mHIC,  OFA Hips (Normal) + Elbows (Excellent).

Enjoy – have fun with the pups.

K9 Nutrition Question for Karen

Hi Karen,

After searching past posts on nutrition and not finding information regarding the sojos diet, have you (or anyone else on the blog) tried and/or recommend the sojos grain-free fruit & veggie dog food mix.  I’m already adding raw beef heart (lately Rudi has decided he doesn’t want it), ground sirlon and sirlon I cut up and add to his Taste of the Wild.  He’s always preferred to play or anything other than eat.  He’s 77 lbs. I’m not worried about his weight but want to find a diet “he wants to eat”.  This past week I’ve added some Mexican crumbling cheese and this morning a slice of swiss…he seems to like cheese but I’m stopping that before it becomes a habit…I know, I hear the chuckling, I’ve already created a habit. ;)

So I guess you simply mix your amount of sojos contents, first five ingredients are sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, celery, apples, whole egg (guess that’s 6) with water and raw beef or poultry.  Let stand for at least 30 minutes then feed.  It does include flax meal.

I was given a small sample packet but decided to ask your expert advice first.  Thanks in advance and here’s wishing you a lovely, reflective Memorial Day Weekend.

Whoppers

A week of sleepless nights as Kira would wake me with her panting, frequent bathroom trips or just feeling the need to wake me up. As she was in the early stages of having her puppies, I was watching her,  pleased with how nice and slim she was. No extra weight except for the puppies.  That of course means the pups would also be normal size and the delivery would be quick and easy.  I could envision a full nights sleep in my future.  Besides, Kira always has quick and easy deliveries,  Yeah not this time. Even though Kira stayed thin, her puppies did not, they were HUGE and the delivery was a marathon session.   With every contraction I was helping by gritting me teeth and wondering what possesses me to want to breed dogs. As a testament to Kira’s stamina she was able to deliver all of her whelps (pups) naturally… and I have the nerve to complain about missing some sleep.

These are pictures of the newly born 2 pound whoppers.  There are 2 boys and 3 girls, I took the pictures before the last girls was born so only 4 pups in the pictures.  I was just too exhausted to even pick my camera up by the time the last pup joined us. I will make up for it.   Maika is in the other room and she is absolutely sure she can do a better job raising Kira’s pups.  Maika is very much her mother’s daughter.  Sorry Maika but Kira is an amazing Mom.
