LOL, he is an M but is often mistaken for F because he was neutered very young (by the rescue) so he is very tall and lanky, not really “filled out”. He’s bigger and taller than Nikon but weighs 60lbs.
Lies, I have been looking at your photographs for over a year now and they are all awesome, but I have some questions on these photos. I had the hardest time getting crisp, clear shots of DeNiro and Kora playing in the snow. I just couldn’t get the aperture and speed correct, I am assuming due to the contrast of their coats with the white snow and also their movement. I did adjust the white balance and tried to set the exposure by focusing on their coats when they were standing still but that didn’t really work either. I did end up getting some reasonable shots but I still had to mess with them in Photoshop, something on which I’d rather not rely. Can you (and Julie of course!) give me some suggestions on where I am going wrong and what I need to do to improve? I used to have a pocket book with a cheat sheet of aperture settings/speed etc for various situations, but that was taken when my camera was stolen. I know you can’t rely on a cheat sheet, but it was a good place to start! Thanks in advance.
Andrea I agree with you about Lies. She is the master of clear/crisp photos. What she tells me is she just uses the camera’s automatic settings and she does do post production work on all? or most all pictures? Lies you have to correct me if this is no longer correct. What I have noticed is Lies has a very steady hand with the camera.
Correct. I use the Sport setting in lower light, Auto if the light is ideal, and Aperture Priority if I’m doing still/posed shots. One thing that I always try to do is shoot from the dog’s level so I’m often kneeling or sitting. I do various amounts of post production on the computer but 99% of it is using Picasa which is free. I shoot JPG not raw so there’s not a whole lot I can do if the white balance is off (which does happen a lot).
Great pictures, looks like Coke is having the time of his or her life! Sorry I couldn’t remember M or F.

Fun pictures! Thank you Lies!
Great photos! Coke seems like such a fun-loving dog.
This dog is gorgeous and so are your photos! There should be a k-9 sport called Tennis Ball Freestyle – Coke would be the gold medal winner!
