Lies, outstanding photo – journalism! You handily captured the color, fun, drama and excitement of the lovely dogs, handlers and families at the dog show.

Congrats to Schumi and Maika on your impressive ratings!

All my comments above also pertain to your entire slideshow on Flick’r – a visual feast for the eyes! Heck, you even captured a shot of the rare and beautiful Julie bird, known to be notoriously camera shy!

Thanks Margot! I forgot that one was in there, it was too cute a moment not to photograph.

Congratulations to Schumi and Maika. By the way, how did Schumi get his name? Liesje, your photos are winners too. Enjoyed the slide show on flickr, thanks for sharing.

Schumi comes from the German race car driver, Michael Schumacher. He was a 7 time F-1 champion who drove for a couple of teams, most notably for Ferrari. His nickname was Schumi and he retired just a few years ago. He is considered one of the best, if not the best driver in F-1 history. I wanted to use the name because it was German and is associated with someone who was considered the best among their peers. Also, Ferrari is my favorite F-1 team; our other choice would have been Kimi (pronounced Key-me) which is Finnish and is the first name of a current driver on the Ferrari F-1 team. Thankfully Becky agreed to the name. She got to name the cat anyway…

Sigh. For everyone else, those were my only two choices to pick from according to Joe. Kimi would have been always pronounced wrong (Kim-E – totally girly) so Schumi was my only choice. Didn’t like it at first but it does fit him. And, I named the cat like 5 years ago so it doesn’t count anymore. I’ll just get to name our next German Shepherd puppy… :-) But go Schumi! VP2 was way more that we could ask for!

“VP2 was way more that we could ask for!”

Sorry Becky—VP1 was what you should have gotten! Schumi is a VERY nice puppy. Now go tell Joe to quit whining about you naming the cat 5 years ago. At least you had a second choice…it would have been a shame to have Schumi stuck with some girly name!
