If any of you are looking for a fetch toy, Duluth Trading right now has the flying dog quoit on sale (pack of two for $8.99). Go to www.DuluthTrading.com and click on the “sale” link. And if any of you are wondering, no, I don’t have any stock in that company.

Is this the toy that Mack likes so much?

That’s the one! Who needs a sleeve when we have this around? Right now ours is in the bath tub, drying out. The rope corners got a little soggy and picked up some dead leaf crud and so forth. Mac is sitting in there staring into the tub.

It doesn’t look like much. Why does he like it? Is it a durable toy? Kimberly wanted a list of toys that will survive her dog.

I don’t know why he likes it (that brain is fascinating but still a puzzle). This and his flying squirrel are tops on the fetch list (tennis balls are for grabbing and then showing off, not giving back for more retrieves). Possibly because this is easy to pick up, even bends in the middle without breaking, has no sharp edges, is easy to thrown down on the ground in front of the human.
I like it because it is easy to throw, dirt dries and brushes off (although canvas can also be washed), and it works in a small yard. I haven’t thrown this over the fence yet, unlike some other toys. Jumping the fence is not something I want to teach.
It has lasted for years. But the ultimate durable is probably his big blue ball–out of play right now, until the daffodils finish doing their thing.
